We grieve the death of Joanne Kelly who died on December 15/16, 2022 and offer condolences to her family and friends. Joanne was a creative, engaged, and fierce mental health advocate, a co-founder of the Interfaith Network on Mental Illness (INMI), a leader many times with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and author of the recent book, “Walking Him Home: Helping My Husband Die with Dignity” which tells the story of her husband’s medical aid in dying. She was on the leadership team of the first interfaith Mental Health conference in 2007 and she was instrumental in forming the INMI 501(c)3 non-profit in 2011, designed the INMI website, and represented INMI at a National Conference on Mental Health in Washington, DC, where President Obama spoke. Joanne’s enthusiastic inspiration, penetrating insights, and writing and editing skills will be profoundly missed wherever she was involved.
